Woman faced £1000 bill after holiday phone theft

A woman who had her mobile phone stolen whilst on holiday in Barcelona was horrified to find out that the theives had run up a bill of £1000 in just two days. Despite only spending an average of £30 per month on mobile phone calls her mobile operator did not detect any unusual pattern in her account.
Major banks and credit card companies are constatntly monitoring credit card and debit card transactions and will suspend an account if they suspect fraudulent use.
Before you go on holiday ensure you know how to contact your mobile phone operator in case you need to cancel your account in an emergency
